Obituary for
Carlos San Miguel
Carlos San Miguel, 64, died on Saturday, May 21, 2016. Carlos was born October 11, 1951 in O’Donnell, Texas. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam era.
Carlos was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. To his grandchildren, he was affectionately known as “Pop Pop.” He loved life and was well known for his sense of humor. He was an avid Carlos Santana fan and a lifelong musician. Carlos began his music career in his youth, playing in rock ‘n’ roll bands, and then spent several decades in a number of conjunto bands in South Texas.
Carlos is survived by his wife of 43 years, Rosa Linda, their son and daughter-in-law, Charlie and Teresa, two grandchildren, Ellie and Nina, four brothers, Daniel, Rogelio, Arcadio and Santos, and one sister, Lisa. A beloved member of his wife’s family from the time he married Rosa Linda, he was especially close to his sisters-in law, Norma and Anna, and their families. He also had many, many friends.
Carlos lived his life as Hunter S. Thompson once suggested – “Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming ‘Wow! What a ride!’” And so he did.
