Vernon Aubrey Terry, age 89, passed away peacefully in his sleep at Herman Memorial Hospital in The Woodlands, Texas on Monday, August 24, 2015.
Vernon was born in Shawnee, Oklahoma on January 30, 1926. He enlisted in the US Navy on July 09, 1943 and served on the Aircraft Carrier USS Petros Bay. On November 8, 1979 he joined the Brotherhood of Freemasons at the Masonic Lodge Number 1418. He retired from the City of Houston in 1985. Just a few short years after retirement, he sold his house, traded in his Ford pickup, purchased a Chevy 1 ton and a 5th wheel travel trailer and began his life as a traveling man. He loved the ladies and the many exciting places his truck and trailer took him.
Vernon is preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Stella Terry; sister, Laverne Donelson; brothers, Virgil L. and Floyd E. Terry; daughter, Debbie Townsend; and grandsons, Jason Townsend, and Joshua Holmes.
Vernon is survived by his five children, sons, John Terry and his wife Beth; Travis Terry; Mark Terry and his wife Wanda; daughters, Denise Dorsett and Sheri Price; 12 grandchildren; 13 great- grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren and many other loving family and friends.
