Bettie Corrine Muckleroy (McKaskle)
Bettie Corrine McKaskle Muckleroy was born September 14, 1924 in Houston, Texas to her parents W.L. (Red) McKaskle and Lillian O. Miller McKaskle. Bettie’s father W.L. was a City of Houston policeman for many years and was elected Constable of Precinct Number 1 from 1951 to 1964. Her mother Lillian was the 1st woman to serve as Constable of Precinct Number 1.
Bettie graduated from John H. Regan Senior High School in May of 1941 and graduated from Massey Business College. Bettie married Lt. Richard W. Muckleroy on July 20, 1945. Bettie and Richard had been married 61 years at the time of his death in 2006. She is also preceded in death by her granddaughter Mandie Lee Parma.
Bettie is survived by her daughters, Karen Lee Parma and husband Dennis Jude Parma and Sherrel Ann Muckleroy; granddaughter, Bettie Kristine Parma Donovan and husband William James Donovan; grandson, Richard William Barclay and wife Mary Barclay; and great grandchildren Kaitlyn Kristine Donovan, twins, Daniel James and Matthew Jude Donovan and Michael Lee Donovan.
Bettie was a member of St. Matthews United Methodist Church since 1952. She belonged to the Lydia Women’s Circle, The Friendship Class and served in a variety of capacities in the church. She was a founding member of The Houston Cactus and Succulent Society, and a life membership in the Parent Teacher Association. She was a member of the Sons of Hermann Edelweiss Lodge, Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 9182, and The Daughters if the American Revolution.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm, Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at Rosewood Funeral Home in Humble, TX, interment will follow in Rosewood Memorial Park. The family invites everyone to dinner following the services at Humble City Cafe, 200 E Main St. Humble, TX 77338.
