Obituary for
Herman Lee Baumann
Herman Lee Baumann, 83, passed away on August 17, 2014 in Humble, Texas. He was born on July 4, 1931 in Litchfield, Illinois.
Born on the fourth of July in Mt. Olive Illinois, his mother Olga called Herman "a firecracker." A true self made man, he was motivated to serve the country he loved and left high school to join the military. Quickly advancing from enlistment into officer's candidate school he served during the Korean War, advancing to the rank of Captain. Of the many honors bestowed upon him by the military the most notable include the Bronze Star for Valor and the Purple Heart. After leaving the Army he continued to serve in the Army Reserves.
He met and married the love of his life Rose Marie May fifty eight years ago. They raised their family, moving throughout the United States, as he advanced through his career. No matter where they lived, from Ohio, to Florida, to Virginia and finally Texas the first order of business was buying a boat. His love of fishing and hunting were evident to everyone who knew him.
His ambition continued through his private career as he worked his way up through the hierarchy of Borden, Inc to become the Director of Credit. Upon retirement, he and his wife Rose decided to stay in Humble these last 35 years. Herman was a member of the Humble Noon Lions Club, served on countless boards throughout his career and remained active with his Officers Candidate School classmates throughout his life.
Herman was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Olga Baumann. He is survived by his wife, Rose Marie Baumann; a son, Phil Baumann and daughter-in-law Misty Baumann, a daughter, Lynn Beckwith; grandsons, Blake Beckwith and Colby Baumann and a cousin, Dennis Ehlert.
The Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 5-8 PM at Rosewood Funeral Home, Humble.
A Military Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, August 20, 2014, 4 PM in the Chapel of Rosewood Funeral Home, Humble. Entombment will follow just outside the chapel in the air conditioned Mausoleum at Rosewood Memorial Park.
