Nancy Jean Broadway Smith was born on February 27, 1939 in Freeport, Texas to Benjamin Louie Broadway and Hazel Lucille Suggs Broadway and died on Thursday, August 14, 2014 with her husband by her side at Baywood Crossing Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Pasadena, Texas.

Nancy attended Austin High School in Houston, Texas, where she met her future husband, Charles Smith, during the summer of 1955. After graduation, Charles and Nancy married on October 12, 1957. They welcomed daughter Dana in February 1958 and son Arlon in March 1959.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son, sister, Doris Baker, brother-in-law, Edward Baker, and niece Leah LeVasseur.

Nancy is survived by her husband of 56 years, Charles, daughter, Dana Swanson and husband John, brother, Tyler Broadway and wife, Pat, and sister, Sarah “Sally” Broadway. She is also survived by granddaughter, Kelli Hyland and husband, Shawn, grandson Cole Swanson and wife, Brittany, great-grandsons Grayson Hyland, Colton Swanson and Beckett Hyland, and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

A memorial service for Nancy B. Smith, 75, will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at 11:00am at Rosewood Funeral Home in Pasadena, Texas.
