Larry Dale Candelari
Larry Dale Candelari “Cande”, 49 , born in Houston, Texas on October 15, 1963, reported for duty in Heaven on April 26, 2013. He was on the job until the end. Larry was a resident of Beach City, Texas. He was killed while serving as a First Responder after witnessing a major, multi-vehicle car accident outside Kerrville, Texas.
Larry leaves behind his high school sweet heart and wife of 28 years, Julie. He also leaves his son, Seth Candelari, daughter-in-law, Dana Garcia Candelari; granddaughter, Tatum Candelari, son , Alec Candelari; brothers , Enrico “Ricky” Candelari, James “J.J.” Candelari, half-brother ,Buddy Casper; half-sister, Connie Casper; Father and Mother in law, Allen and Nancy Thomas; and sister in law, Natalie Thomas Hoelzer, along with numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins and friends too many to count.
He was preceded in death by mother, Roma Greenwood Candelari , and father Henry Candelari.
Larry graduated from North Shore High School then went on to serve his country proudly for 5 yrs in the United States Marine Corp. While a marine, Larry completed jump school along with special forces combat diving course. Larry was a decorated Marine with many honors.
He joined the Pasadena Police Department in 1990 and served for 24 years. During his time with the department, his assignments included Patrol, Narcotics, and Dare. Larry was a member of the Pasadena Police Department Special Weapons and Tactics “S.W.A.T.” for 22 of those years. Larry was a “policeman’s policeman” and received numerous awards and accommodations and was beloved by his fellow officers.
Larry took a leave of absence from the Pasadena Police department for a time to work with a private security company in Iraq where he served as a trainer, and provided security for numerous dignitaries.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 2, 2013, from 6:00 pm til 8:00 in the evening, at the First Baptist Church at 7500 Fairmont Parkway in Pasadena, Texas. A Celebration of Officer Candelari’s life will be held on Friday, May 3, 2013 at 10:00 o’clock in the morning., at the First Baptist Church Pasadena, Texas, under the direction of Rosewood Funeral Home.
Honored to serve as pallbearers will be SWAT Officer’s from the Pasadena, La Porte and Baytown police departments as well as the United States Marine Corp.
